Abstract. The article criticizes the natural law concept of rights and freedoms. The authors believe that archaic legal provisions dating back to the time of the first bourgeois revolutions were introduced into the legislation of the Russian Federation on the law enforcement system under the pretext of introducing universal values and the achievements of world civilization. According to the authors, these legal innovations currently need critical reflection.
